Gaynor Deacon 
Level-0 Accredited Surveyor

Gaynor has three decades of experience in the Hydrographic and offshore marine Industry.  She is a Level-0 Accredited Surveyor (FIG/IHO/ICA), registered Professional Hydrographic Surveyor with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) and Chartered Surveyor with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).  She is currently the Secretary of the Hydrographic Society of South Africa and the Alternate Member on the SAGC Council representing the hydrographic fraternity.  She is also an IHO mentor on the Empowering Women in Hydrography Mentorship Programme .  Gaynor has a Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency (MSCC) in Sea Mining from the Namibian Chamber of Mines.


With a exemplary track record in the marine mining, offshore minerals, dredging and marine construction industries, she has worked in executive management for many years, and in senior project and technical positions with major players in the industry.  She has extensive operational field experience in Southern and East Africa and been involved on various projects throughout Sub-Sahara Africa including Angola, Namibia, DRC, Kenya, Madagascar, Cameroon, Mauritius, Zambia and Ghana. 


Amaza was established as a Hydrographic Consultancy firm in 2018 and is based in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Aside from hydrospatial consultancy services, Amaza provides equipment sales and rental, hydrographic training and capacity building for the marine industry and project management of hydrographic surveys.  Amaza is a RICS Regulated firm.


Our ever growing Clientele list include local and international dredging and marine contractors, port and coastal engineering consultants, salvage and diving companies, tertiary institutions, government parastatals and NGOs.
